WHERE IS IT? This five-star holiday park is a family-run site sitting in a quiet spot surrounded by rolling countryside, in the quaint Yorkshire village of Allerston, near Pickering.

WHY DO WE LOVE IT? Location, location, location. This campsite is perfect for exploring the coast and country – as well as some of the region’s must-visit market towns including Malton, Pickering and Helmsley. WHERE IS IT? Sitting at the foot of the North York Moors in Osmotherley, Cote Ghyll is an idyllic spot to camp – Defender style.

WHY DO WE LOVE IT? Great for families, you’ll find beautiful views, plenty of cycle paths, wonderful wildlife and top-class facilities. The friendly faces always offer a warm welcome, and are happy to help you plan your weekend in the countryside. With the Cod Beck stream flowing through, it’s the perfect place to play, paddle and enjoy the parkland. Dog friendly.

WHERE IS IT? The ideal staycation spot in the heart of North Yorkshire, close to the popular spa town of Harrogate. Go here for pristine parkland, plenty of nearby attractions and heaps of family fun at your feet.

WHY DO WE LOVE IT? This family campsite was awarded Visit England’s five-star rating and it’s easy to see why. On-site facilities include an outdoor heated swimming pool and a family pub, perfect for whiling away the afternoon after a day exploring Yorkshire in your Defender. Dog friendly.

WHERE IS IT? Sandfield House Farm is the ideal campsite for those who like to be beside the seaside. Set in the stunning North York Moors and just a mile from Whitby, making this your base means you’ve got the perfect mix of coast, countryside and quaint seaside towns.  

WHY DO WE LOVE IT? The sea view is a real winner here. Watch the sun sink into the horizon from your Defender Tent Box – it doesn’t get much better than that! It’s close proximity to Whitby means there are many handy amenities nearby.

WHERE IS IT? Sitting in an enviable location in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, the Kettlewell Camping site is just a stone’s throw from Kettlewell village, boasting beautiful views across the Upper Wharfedale valley. The site is just 14 miles from Skipton – the gateway to the Dales.

WHY DO WE LOVE IT? This place screams friendly, village charm – and breathtaking views out over the National Park. The facilities are first-class and the nearby pubs, tearoom and bistro are great for when you’re looking to venture out at mealtimes. Dog friendly.

WHERE IS IT? Masons Campsite is surrounded by glorious countryside, sitting in the village of Appletreewick, on the banks of the River Wharfe. The historic site of Bolton Abbey is located nearby, as are the many trails and picnic spots of the Yorkshire Dales.

WHY DO WE LOVE IT? A picture-perfect pitch to say the least! This family site is the ideal base for exploring all that the Dales has to offer. Whether you’re hiking, cycling, village hopping or just hitting the roads in your Defender, there’s plenty to do with Masons Campsite as your base. Dog friendly.

WHERE IS IT? Sitting in a quiet spot in the Wharfe Valley, this stunning campsite is the place to go for peace and tranquillity, close to the village of Kettlewell.

WHY DO WE LOVE IT? Wharfe Camp is an adult-only site, offering the ultimate rural retreat if you’re looking to relax and unwind in the great outdoors. Each pitch offers plenty of space and luxury facilities are available at all times. No dogs on site.

WHERE IS IT? Standing on the 45-acre estate of Knight Stainforth Hall, this pretty-as-a-picture campsite is situated just two miles north of the market town of Settle – nestled on the banks of the River Ribble.

WHY DO WE LOVE IT? Run by the third generation of Maudsleys, this is indeed a family-focused campsite with plenty of facilities to keep little ones entertained. You’ll find a children’s playground, wireless internet and modern facilities ensuring your stay is as comfortable and stress-free as possible. Dog friendly.

WHERE IS IT? This National Trust campsite on the western shoreline of Lake Windermere is an idyllic spot for exploring the Lake District and all it has to offer. Make this your home for your Defender adventure and explore the likes of Beatrix Potter’s garden at Hill Top, or Allan Bank at Grasmere.  

WHY DO WE LOVE IT? A stunning site with plenty of space to choose from. Whether it’s a spot with woodland views, a waterfront pitch or an escape in the meadow, you’re sure to be surrounded by serene countryside with first-class facilities on hand at all times. Don’t forget to get out on England’s largest lake, just a stone’s throw away from the site. Dog friendly.


WHERE IS IT? Everything we know and love about the Lakes, in one campsite. Great Langdale is set beneath the towering Langdale Pikes close to Ambleside.

WHY DO WE LOVE IT? Another National Trust site, Great Langdale is all about relaxing and taking in the dramatic backdrop. Go here for walks aplenty, cycling routes and holidays with the whole gang. With newly-refurbished shower blocks, toilets and washing areas, you’ll feel right at home at Langdale.


WHERE IS IT? Just three miles from Bowness-on-Windermere, this peaceful campsite is the perfect base for exploring some of the Lakes’ most exciting and breathtakingly beautiful attractions.

WHY DO WE LOVE IT? One of our favourite spots to escape the hustle and bustle of day-to-day life. Park Cliffe really does offer Lake District camping at its finest. It’s great for lovers of wildlife, walking and appreciating the wonders of the great British countryside. Dog friendly.

WHERE IS IT? Eskdale is a National Trust campsite enjoying a charming spot in the small village of Boot, Cumbria. With a range of bridleways, trails and fell routes nearby, it’s the perfect base for those looking for an active adventure in the Defender.

WHY DO WE LOVE IT? Sitting at the foot of the Hardknott Pass, Eskdale is in a picture-perfect spot on a jaw-dropping gradient. Pitch up by the beck and get ready to explore the western Lakes area. Dog friendly.



WHERE IS IT? With Kielder Water and Forest Park on the fringe of the site, this Northumberland camping spot is great for family staycations. A stunning, Scottish Borders location sitting in the National Park and Nature Reserve.

WHY DO WE LOVE IT? Stargazing from your Tent Box is an absolute must at this site – sitting in the centre of the Dark Sky Park. This unique location comes with heaps of activities for families – everything from red squirrel trails and mountain biking, to long quiet dog walks and water sports. You’ll never be stuck for something cool to do here. Dog friendly.

WHERE IS IT? Doxford Farm Camping is the perfect pitch for those looking to explore the Northumberland coast and surrounding towns and villages such as Alnwick, Ellingham, Beadnell and Bamburgh.

WHY DO WE LOVE IT? A gorgeous green space set in the rural Northumberland countryside. Go here for easy access to sandy beaches, rural farm walks and woodland trails. Dog friendly.

WHERE IS IT? The Barn at Beal is a much-loved coffee shop, bar and campsite overlooking the iconic Holy Island of Lindisfarne. Sitting in one of Northumberland’s most unique, historic sites, it’s sure to offer a camping experience you’ll never forget.

WHY DO WE LOVE IT? Friendly faces, first-class facilities and fantastic views over Holy Island. Make this your Defender home and explore all that Northumberland has to offer. The site’s restaurant and coffee shop is a must-visit for foodies and coffee-lovers. Dog friendly.

WHERE IS IT? Budle Bay boast a breathtaking location close to the iconic Bamburgh Castle and its surrounding sand dunes. Sitting in a picturesque treelined valley with a pretty river flowing through, it’s the ideal spot to quiet camping in one of the most idyllic coastal areas in the country.

WHY DO WE LOVE IT? Pitch up by the stream, on the hill or close to the on-site facilities at this peaceful, picture-perfect campsite in Bamburgh. If the fact that Budle Bay sits in Northumberland’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty isn’t enough to draw you, its stargazing opportunities, wildlife and nearby gold sand beaches will. A beauty of a spot, ideal for exploring coast and country in your Defender.
